Success Story: Unexpected Hazardous Materials Necessitate Remediation Before Demolition of a 100-Year-Old University Building

Ready to demolish a century-old university building, the project had to be stopped after concerns that the building had potentially hazardous materials present within the structure. As a result, the building had to be investigated to determine whether (and what) hazards were present and remediate before proceeding. Triumvirate Environmental was contacted to scope the project and conduct the subsequent required work.

Aiming to exceed the client’s goals, we started with a thorough analysis of the building. Our subsequent action plan covered:

Testing: Determine the present hazards (and quantities) to form a plan.
Remediation: Remediate and dispose of hazards, while maintaining safety.
Testing: Determine effectiveness of remediation, and uncovered additional hazards.

After plan implementation, the site saw a remarkable transformation. As a result of our partnership, this client was able safely proceed with the demolition.
